New Year, New Office: Starting The Year Right With A Clean Office

in this page

In January, we start out with a clean slate and a new year. But we should also begin 2023 with a clean office.

Many of us make losing weight, reading more books, and eating healthier some of our new year goals. A clean office should be the most important of these since it makes all the others possible by preserving your health.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage on, still making people sick and claiming lives. The virus is known to thrive in unsanitised man-made spaces. Don’t give it a home.

For a Clean Office in the New Year

Make a list of the tasks you need to do in order to clean your office

If you’re like most people, you avoid cleaning until you absolutely need to and, when you do finally decide to get around to it, you’re never really sure where to start.

Start by making a list. It may help to give your list an order of priority. What is it that absolutely needs doing? Dusting? Disinfecting? Vacuuming? Mopping? Packing away files? Once you get the order settled, don’t procrastinate anymore. Begin.

Gather the necessary supplies

Pull all the supplies you’ll need to complete the job together. Nothing is worse than starting a job, only to realise that you need to go to the store because you don’t have something.

Some supplies you might consider are a mop, broom and dustpan, a vacuum, cleaner and disinfectant, wipes, and rubber gloves.

Start with the easiest tasks

This is important because it will give you the motivation to do the hardest jobs.

Once you start and complete an easy job, like organizing your bookshelf, you’ll feel accomplished enough to tackle organising your filing cabinets.

The newly acquired sense of purpose will power you through the rest of your tasks in no time.

Take a break every once in a while

No person can live by working alone, which is why breaks are important, especially if you’re not accustomed to cleaning up.

If you don’t take a break, you’re likely to be overwhelmed by your tasks. This will demotivate you and you’ll stop long before your work is done, possibly never completing the cleaning job.

Break your cleaning into half an hour increments with 10 to 15-minute breaks in between.

Hire Professionals

Cleaning an office used by one person, or a small business office is one thing. If you have a larger office, you might want to consider calling in a professional cleaning company.

Larger offices have far more floor space and surfaces. They also have more sensitive equipment that may need to be cleaned by people who know what they are doing.

This is important because offices and equipment like telephones and computer mice and keyboards have been scientifically shown to be more germ-laden than toilets.

Celebrate When You’re Done

You ring in the New Year with quite a bit of pomp and style. Why not do the same here? You’ve just completed a major task that will help you start the year off on the right foot.

The celebration doesn’t have to be large. It could be having a glass of wine or a favourite dessert.

The Benefits Of Clean IT Equipment

Whilst we don’t provide general office cleaning services, we do specialise in the cleaning of IT and telephone equipment.

Few things are likely to sicken in an office than your computer keyboard and mice, especially when they are not being regularly disinfected.

When you clean equipment, it means you have gotten rid of the disease-causing microbes that would have gathered in the lead up to the holiday season.

This means they aren’t around to sicken anyone at the beginning of 2023 and what better way to start the new year?

Part of having a clean office is having sanitised desktops, including phones, computers, keyboards, mice etc. We’ve specialised in the cleaning of IT equipment since 1994. Call us at 0141 374 2869 for a quote.
